The motto of the Trans-Siberian Railway tour should be: “The journey is the reward!”. Unique beautiful sceneries which you see out of your window are changing from endless woods of Taiga to steppes and even deserts on the route; the stops in different cities are short but you always have time to buy local products: fresh beer and dried fish or some typical pastries along with a bottle of decent Russian champagne (only about $3 in the kiosks at the train stations) will guarantee you a cozy starter in your compartment before going to have a meal at the dining car. You will have an amusing time in your comfortable 1st or 2nd class compartment and a chance to make friends with co-travelers on the train. The first Railway connection between Moscow and Vladivostok was finished in the year 1905. The route is almost 6000 miles long and the Trans-Siberian Railway for a long time was the only means of transportation through the vast dimensions of Siberia. Today it is still very important: Many Russians use the Train to get (usually) from Siberia to Central Russia and back. Against one’s expectation there is still very few trains that are being used for tourists only! |

Vladivostok ("Ruler of the East") is often compared to San Francisco due to the many hills and ocean views, and is one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. As one of only four major seaports, Vladivostok is Russia's window to Asia, as it is located less than 100km east of the Chinese border, and just across the main Japanese Island of Honshu. Home base to the Russian Pacific Fleet, the city was closed to all non-Soviets from 1958 until 1991.
Time difference with Moscow at this point is 7 hour(s).
Stay in Vladivostok for 2 night(s) .
