| Description | Uymon valley (Uymon steppe) has a length about 35 km and a width from 8 to 13 km. Mountain rivers cross it from North to South: from the left hand – Margala river, from the right hand – Uymon, Multa, Okol rivers. A clear Koksa river (that means “Blue water”) rushes into the valley from the western mountains. You’ll admire so beautiful nature of Uymon valley. Even its old residents are still astonished by its fantastic beauty. Mountains surrounded the valley are changing beyond recognition depending on weather, time, and even on how the sun lights them up. Katun river also always looks different: “small streams and rivers charm by their noise of rifts, silver fir and larch forests, birchwoods change their decoration during a year, and in the distance the whites are shine marvellously – these are the snow tops of mountains”, - V.V.Sapozhnikov describes this amazing land. |

1 day Transfer Novosibirsk-Ust-Koksa. Leaving Novosibirsk at 8.00 p.m. local time (the time difference with Moscow 3 hours). The place of departure: 65th Sovetskaya str., Novosibirsk. The road goes along the famous Chuysky tract among the rock cliffs of the Altai mountains, then runs through the Kanskaya steppe and finishes in the valley. by bus/mini-bus 825 km
2 day Ust-Koksa. The largest settlement in Ust-Koksinskyi region, situated near junction of Katun and Koksa rivers, was founded in 1807. There are burial mound of Scythians (VIII-V B.C.) and 2 burial mounds of Afanasyevskaya culture (IV-III B.C.) not so far from Ust-Koksa, just at the foot of Terektinskyi mountain ridge. Arrival in the village Ust-Koksa. Accommodation in the tourist complex «Uymonskyi kovcheg». Lunch.
3 day Climbing up the mountain, from which travelers can see Ust-Koksa village, Uymon valley, and even the beauty Belukha mountain (if it will be a sunny day). This day travelers have a packed lunch. on foot 8 km
4 day Excursion to the Low Multa lake. After breakfast transfer to Multa-Maralnik village.
Travelers go up Multa river. There are a lot of mushrooms and berries on the way. They come up to the Low Multa lake with extremely clean water and a pebble shore. When the weather is still, the mirror-like surface of the lake reflects clouds drifting in the blue sky and the peaks of surrounding mountains. Situated at the altitude of 1710 meters the Low Multa lake favors the traveler with the clean mountain air, calmness and the touch of nature. Lunch is prepared on the fire. By bus

8 day Transfer to the mountain Krasnaya by bus. Excursion to the lake “Krasnoye” on foot (5 km). There is a lake at the foot of the mountain. It’s really a splendid scenery. Also there is a licensing fishing (there is trout there). Climbing up Krasnaya mountain (2400 meters). There is umber in the river Biryuksa, which is started from the glaciers of the mountain Krasnaya. It’s also possible to see during the route wild animals. 9 day Time for the rest. Lunch. Excursion to the village Verhnyi Uymon. The village is one of the oldest settlements in the area and was founded by religious group of old-believers more than 300 years ago.
According to the legend the old-believers escaping the hard yoke of serfdom were looking for White Water Land, the country of justice. They thought that this fertile land was situated in the Altai, where the white waters of Katun river flow. There are two museums in Verhniy Uymon village: Ethnographical museum named after famous artist Nikolay Rerih and Museum of old-believers’ religious traditions and culture.
